Peggy Staples Burch, 65 of Amherst, passed away October 9, 2011. She is survived by her husband, of 45 years, Hansford Sandidge Burch.  Born September 17, 1946, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Staples and Doris Williams Staples Baldwin.  She was retired from Central Virginia Training Center, after 22 years of service, and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Monroe.  Survivors also include two daughters, Pamela L. Burch, and Monica B. Martin and husband John, both of Amherst; two brothers, John Staples, of Lynchburg, and Phillip Staples, of the Dominican Republic; three sisters, Darlene S. Lyons, of Evington, Gayle B. Ray, of NC, and Christine B. Witt, of Bedford; five grandchildren, William Burch, Brittany McCartney, Anna Marie McCartney, John L. Martin Jr., and Mary Grace Martin, other relatives and friends.  The family will receive friends Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 7-8:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.  A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011, at Amherst Cemetery, by the Rev. D. Jack Hamilton.
