Cordelia Hancock (Draper)

Cordelia Hancock (Draper)

Cordelia Hancock Draper, 59, of Lynchburg, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2009.  Cordelia was born March 31, 1949, in Lynchburg, the daughter of the late Charles W. Hancock and Ruth Plunkett Hancock of Lynchburg.  She worked as the Activities Director for the Williams Home in Lynchburg.  Cordelia’s passion was comforting and loving others.  The family would like to thank all of Cordelia’s friends, especially at the Odd Fellows Home and the Gentle Shepherd Hospice for giving her so much love, kindness, and understanding.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Mollie Crozier Draper; two sons, John Crozier Draper, Jr. and Charles Hancock Draper all of Roanoke; two sisters, Ruth (Frosty) Hancock Flippin and her husband, Bill, of Tyro, and Lucinda (Cindy) Hancock Warren and her husband, Joe, of Lynchburg; and one granddaughter, Ashlyn Brooke Draper of Roanoke.  In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one brother, Charles W. Hancock, Jr. and one sister, Lalla Hancock Sydnor; and her four-legged companion Buddy Draper.  A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 200 Boston Avenue, Lynchburg, with the Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating.  Cordelia loved flowers, but she was hoping her friends would consider making a memorial donation to the Odd Fellows Home, 600 Elmwood, Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503, or the Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 22712 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.  Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family 434-237-9424.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.tharpfuneralhome.com.
