Brenda Jones (Phelps)

Brenda Jones Phelps

November 13, 1948 - June 8, 2022

On June 8th God called our earthly "Angel" home, Brenda Jones Phelps, known as "Ben"! Suffering from the dreadful disease of Alzheimer's she took her last earthly breath and breathed the eternal bliss of Heaven.

She was born on November 13, 1948, to the late Ruby and Malon Jones and is survived by her loving and caring husband Ronnie of 55 years; her faithful sons, Kendall (Sheri) and Greg Phelps; her dedicated sisters, Nancy McGuire, and Darlene Overstreet-Warfe (Eddie); and grandchildren, Cassidy, Kamden, Tyler, Nadia, and Kenstin. Also surviving are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Brenda (Ronnie) Adams, Raymond (Gwen) Phelps, James (Marie) Phelps; lots of nieces and nephews whom she loved; her lifelong friends, Brenda and Ray Freeman; and her grand dog and faithful buddy "Maverick".

After 10 years with the Commissioner of Revenue, she began her successful real estate career. Her first year in real estate she was awarded "Rookie of the year", by the Lynchburg Board of Realtors and will be missed by her Century 21 All-Service family.

Brenda was remembered as fun loving and was the life of every gathering. She loved to shop especially in New York, enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving meals and Christmas was her favorite time of the year and was known by her famous Christmas goodies. She loved playing "Rook" but was a poor looser! She enjoyed all her Myrtle Beach trips and traveling to visit family in California. The best memory was made by her sons, Kendall and Greg by saying, "She was the Best Mom"!!

Brenda accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a 50-year member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 355 Rio Road West, Suite 102, Charlottesville, VA 22901. The first day Brenda was diagnosed with Alzheimer's there was another patient in the doctor's office and complimented her necklace. Being the generous person she was, Brenda took the necklace off and gave it to the lady. Her legacy of love and generosity will always be remembered.

The family will receive friends today, Friday, June 10, 2022, from 6:30 until 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service. A memorial service will start at 7 p.m. by the Rev. Clyde Billingsley.
