Barbara Joyce Alper, 51, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Pineview Manor Adult Home in Spout Spring, VA.  Born July 1, 1948 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Betty Caplan Alper.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Nelson B. Alper.  Barbara is survived by one brother, Ronald M. Alper and his wife, Dorlyn of Lynchburg; two cousins, Ken Alper also of Lynchburg and Sharon Lerner and her husband, Richard of Forest and three nieces, Adrienne, Mariel, and Dara Alper.  Graveside services will be conducted by David Mars at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beth Joseph Cemetery, Madison Heights.  The family will receive friends at the home of her brother, 2211 Rivermont Avenue following the service and will have an evening memorial service at 6 p.m.  Whitten Park Avenue Chapel is serving the family.
