Bruce Harvey

Bruce Claiborne Harvey died on December 13 at his home in Scottsville, Virginia.  He was 72 years young. A memorial will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Keswick, Virginia located at 5607 Gordonsville Road on Saturday, April 2nd.  Service is scheduled for 1 pm. Refreshments to follow service in the parish hall.

Bruce attended VMI for 2 years and finished his chemistry degree at Lynchburg College so that he could join his father's business. He became owner and CEO of Commonwealth Oil in Lynchburg.

Bruce had a wide range of interests. He was an aficionado of music and had an extensive knowledge of unique and antique guns.  He was kind to others and a loyal friend. He had a charismatic personality and a sharp sense of humor. Bruce was devoted to his sons and his grandsons. He lived on a farm in Scottsville for the last 12 years. He was surrounded by horses and dogs. He loved dogs and they loved him

Bruce is survived by his sons Oliver Harvey of Greenville, South Carolina and Jon Harvey of Lynchburg, Virginia; his grandsons Jameson and Maddox Harvey of Greenville, South Carolina; his niece,  Haden Cross; Martha Settle of Scottsville, Va.

He was preceded in death by his mother  Mary Lynn Harvey ; his  father, William Harvey of Lynchburg; his sister, Ann Harvey-Cross.

Bruce was loved by many and will be missed by family and friends.
