Michael W. Hartless, Sr., known as Michael Raven Horse, died September 2, 2007.  He is survived by Gail E. Green, his long-time companion; his daughter, Tammy Hartless and her husband, Bill Grubb; sons, Robert E. Hartless and his companion, Christine Anderson and Michael W. Hartless, Jr. and his wife, Amy; step-daughter, Jennifer Courtney; his mother Helen Denton Hartless; a brother, Galen Hartless and his wife Brenda; 12 grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.  He was preceded in death by his father, Robey Beatie Hartless.  He spent his lifetime fighting for the rights of his people.  He was a member of the American Indian Movement, Pipe Carrier, Prophecy Carrier, Keeper of the Sacred Fire, and a healer.  Passing over ceremony and burial will take place on Tribal Grounds at a later date.  Those whom would like to attend should write to 2495 Elon Road, Madison Heights, VA 24572, and provide a telephone number to be contacted.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to S.E.D.A.R.
