Judy Brooks Parks

LYNCHBURG

Judy Brooks Parks ,74 of Lynchburg, VA bravely passed away to her heavenly home on October 29,2023.  After fighting a year long battle resulting from a car accident and a recent serious fall.  Her spirit and determination was strong but her body could not heal.

Judy was born on November 11, 1948 to Earl Brooks ,Sr. and Dorothy (Dot) Riley Brooks. 

She was a 1967 graduate from E .C .Glass High School and continued pursuing her education and interest at Central Virginia Community College.

She retired from the State of Virginia after working 30 years at CVTC as a medical aide.  She was a dedicated employee and made many friends with her co-workers.

Judy had many interest in life and was an avid reader and donated many books to the library.  She also was extremely talented .  Her needlework was beautiful, her ornament painting was so detailed to perfection, she loved reading  her People magazine and could give you every detail about any movie.  She also loved genealogy and had done in- depth searches on family history on the Brooks-Riley-Candler sides of the family.

Judy is survived by her beloved son, Michael Breeden and her precious grandson, Joshua Breeden.  They were her heart.

She is also survived by two sisters, Hilda B. Hicks and husband Ray and Donna B. Skinner and husband Mark, two brothers, Earl Brooks, Jr. and his wife Paula and Ervin Brooks and his wife Cindi,  she is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces ,great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces, and many friends and loved ones. She loved and admired each and every one of them.

In addition to her parents Dot & Earl Brooks, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eldridge & Mattie Brooks and Jack & Elizabeth Riley, her great aunt , Sallie Candler and her loving Aunts and Uncles from the Brooks and Riley family. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Barley.

There will be a celebration of life service on Sunday, November 12, 2023  at 12:30 held at the Old City Cemetery Chapel on 401 Taylor Street, Lynchburg, VA to spread her ashes and a gathering for family afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the Old City Cemetery or the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
