David Marston VIEW PROFILE

Reverend David Marston passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.

David was born on January 14, 1949, in Newport News, Va. He attended E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Va., and graduated in 1967. In his twenties he joined the United States Army National Guard and served 6 years. After the Army he attended Liberty Baptist College (Liberty University) and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Youth Ministry and a Masters degree in Religious Education. In 1979, he began teaching in the Center for Youth Ministry Department and went on to become the Department Chair. He enjoyed teaching the Word of God and served in many pastoral roles, most recently as the Administrative Pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Chase and Cameron.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Lee Marston and Clarice Jeanette Tripp and his brother, Dennis Wayne Marston. He is survived by his wife Sue Marston; his daughter Amy Feigel; his son-in-law Kurt Feigel; two grandsons, Chase and Cameron Feigel of Forest, Va.; four sisters, Gail Nemeckay and husband, Chuck, of Madison, Wisc., Brenda Collins of Newport News, Va., Deborah Marston of Smithfield, Va., and Lisa Johnson of Newport News, Va.

Calling hours will take place on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA. A Celebration of Life Service will take place Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church, 2469 Sunburst Road, Evington, VA.
