Patricia Pat Cheves (Baker)

Patricia Anne Cheves Baker, 76, of Forest passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at her residence. She was the loving wife of Leslie Lewis Baker for 54 years.

Born on December 13, 1948 in Alexandria, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rodney Wilson Cheves and Margaret Anne Fallen Cheves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cheves and a special friend, Betty Vaughan.

In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory two children, Carrie Baker Dodge and husband, Christopher of Forest and Katherine Peyton Baker of Lynchburg; four granddaughters, Sophie Grace Dodge, Anna Katherine Dodge, Phebe Belle Dodge and Ella Claire Dodge; a brother, Jim Cheves and wife, Sheryl of Florida; several nieces and a nephew; a special friend, Susie Kane of Texas; and her canine companions, Murphy and Willie.

Patricia was a loving mother and grandmother who loved and adored raising her daughters and was so proud of the both of them. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them and her canine companions. Patricia received her Bachelor’s Degree from Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) and was a retired school teacher with Campbell County Schools at Leesville Road Elementary with 32 years of service. She loved reading, dining out and traveling abroad throughout Europe, taking cruises and her beach trips to North Myrtle Beach, SC. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 16.

A Celebration of Patricia’s Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory 427 Graves Mill Road in Lynchburg.
