Carolle Frances Chajka passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Born on October 24, 1949 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances B. Chajka. Her parents chose the name Carolle because it means “song”, and she certainly lived up to her name. Carolle danced through life to her own beat, always living in the moment, she was sure to share her joy of music, animals, and shopping with her children and her grandchildren. An animal lover at heart, she grew up riding horses, and often reminisced about Boonsboro when it was “nothin’ but farm land” where she would rove and ride. She loved and nurtured all her animals, and notably rescued and adopted many beloved cats.
She is survived by her daughters Ginger Cooper (Steve) and Kristin Benedikter (Derek) and her son, Michael Benedikter (Theresa); sister, Laura Cloud (Tom); nephews Alex and Chris Cloud; and eight beloved grandchildren (Rhyan, Tyler, Reese, Sophia, Zayden, George, Sebastian, and Augustine).
Carolle’s children and her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she spent her life giving. Without question she cared and provided for her family in difficult times. Her children, and in her later years, her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Their faces lit up with shared mischief in secret treats. She danced to “the twist” and taught them how to “boogie”. She shared her dollies and jewelry and they squealed with laughter together through all the messes and the milestones. She will be greatly missed.
For those who wish to share in celebration of Carolle’s life, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with reception immediately following.
