David Burgess

David Richard Burgess, 35, beloved son of Janice Long Burgess and the late Frank T. Burgess of Lynchburg, died May 6, 1985, at University of Virginia Hospital.  He was currently residing at 109 Huron Ave., but lived in New York City.  He was born in Lynchburg, attend Lynchburg Public Schools and graduated from E. C. Glass High School.  David attended Fredrick College and James Madison University, and received his B. A. from Tennessee Temple University.  He graduated with a registered nursing degree from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.  He was completing his master’s degree in Philosophy from Forham University, New York City.  David was employed by Roosevelt Hospital Blood Bank and N. Y. Blood Research in New York City.  He attended Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church where he was an active member in his youth.  He was a brother in the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Charles E. Burgess, Lynchburg, and one sister, Mrs. A. S. (Mary Lou) Kelly, Floyd.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Diuguid Rivermont Chapel by the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow.  Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
