Rucker Tibbs VIEW PROFILE

Rucker Alexander Tibbs Jr., 73, of Forest, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at his residence. He was the husband of Brenda Maddox Tibbs. Born on November 12, 1947, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Rucker Alexander Tibbs Sr. and the late Lucille Simpkins Tibbs.

In addition to his parents, Rucker was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Tibbs.

In addition to his wife, Rucker is survived by two children, Chris Tibbs and his wife, Laurie, of Forest, and Sunny Thornton of Forest; son-in-law, Matthew Thornton; two sisters, Janet Tibbs of Lynchburg and Jean Ferguson (Larry Witt) of Forest; sister-in-law, Iris Cawthorne of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Story Smith, Grayson Tibbs, Sully Tibbs, Wyatt Thornton and Chase Thornton; and other loving family members and friends.

Rucker's greatest joy in life was being PaPa to his five grandchildren. He was a retired Engineer for Verizon and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church. Rucker was also a member of the New London Ruritan Club.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Parker and the Rev. Ron Davidson officiating. There will be a time to pay respects from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
