Sidney Akers

Sidney James Akers, 49, of the 200 block of North Hill Lane died Saturday, June 26, 1999 in Chesapeake, VA.  Mr. Akers was born in Anamosa, Iowa and was the son of the late George and Freddie Day Akers.  He attended Great Bridge Baptist Church and was formerly a Game Warden for 12 years with the Commonwealth of VA.  He more recently was employed as an outside operator with the Columbia Gas Company.  Survivors include his wife, Janet Thompson Akers of Chesapeake; a daughter, Dina Kolleen Nacc of Hampton; two sons, Joshua David Moore of Roanoke, and James Akers of New York, NY; and two brothers, Roger Akers of Rustburg, and Rodney Akers of Raleigh, NC.  A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 1999 in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Great Bridge.  There will be no public viewing or visitation.  Interment will be at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 281 Independence Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
