Stephen Dorsett Smith, 29, of 2015 Baxter Street, Los Angeles, formerly of 4120 Williams Road, Lynchburg, died Friday, February 2, 1979 at his home.  Born in Syracuse, NY, he was a son of Jared Scott Smith of Vienna and Amelia Rajcok Smith of Lynchburg.  He was an engineer for Joy Manufacturing Co., Western Precipitation Division in Los Angeles.  A former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he was graduated from E. C. Glass High School, class of 1967, where he played in the Marching and Concert bands.  He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and his master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia.  During the summer he had worked at the General Electric Co. in Lynchburg.  He also was a paper carrier for The Daily Advance.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Jared P. Smith and Jeffrey S. Smith, both of Lynchburg and a sister, Mrs. Sandra Burkholder of Lynchburg.  Diuguid Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.
